VOP (Seminole County)

Facts: Our client was placed on probation in 2017 for an aggravated battery. He was ordered to complete community service hours, anger management classes, and pay restitution. Our client completed everything he was supposed to do with the exception of his community service hours. He was violated weeks before his probation terminated due to them not being completed.

Results: Our client hired us as soon as he learned of the violation. We were there for his initial appearance to ensure the state attorney was aware of everything our client had done right. We went to work immediately attempting to contact the state and get him out of custody as quickly as we could. We spoke with him probation officer and confirmed that he was a model probationer and did not pose a danger to the community. I relayed this information to the state and requested my client’s probation be reinstated to either complete the hours or buy them out to complete his probation conditions. The state agreed and we resolved his case at the first court date. Our client is now out of custody and off probation upon completion of the community service hours.
